Sally Petersen's Blog

Let me tell you right away that I have two people living in my skin. Well, actually more than that: so many voices compete for attention that sometimes I feel like I’m holding a committee meeting. But two dominate.

One is the crisp, efficient businesswoman who wrote The Real American Dream on a computer. She works in her office—crisp blouse, black jeans, gold jewelry—and doesn’t leave until five p.m., even if she is retired. The other Sally doesn’t get dressed for hours, sometimes not until four o’clock. She sits in bed, writing with a blue gel pen and notepad on a pretty white tray-table, and stops only when she’s hungry. You’ll hear from them both.
